Meet the Artist
As a writer of poems, I deal in images that start out in the mind and render themselves in
words. In that creation, or production aesthetic, the image in my head is a pre-art to another
art. But sometimes, as an image maker, I find the image that I envision is a complete poem,
but in a visual way. While the image may ultimately bring about a “traditional” poem, it may
also be a narrative poem, “written” and “read” by the viewer of the image simply by standing
before the work on canvas. A poem on the spot—in the mind of the viewer-reader.
